Thirty one days later

We're back in harness, tanned, streaked, rested. Stick around, there's more to come, now in almost full, rather sexy, colour.

It all starts from 1st September. That's tomorrow, by the way, so you'd better sleep by your PC tonight just to make sure you're first in the queue.

Mick McManus

Mick McManus' ears were a mass of scar tissue, which is why his opponents used to twist and rub them while he shouted "Not the ears! No, not the ears!"

'Catweazle' ran for two years and twenty six episodes on British TV.

Doncaster born wrestler Gary Cooper adopted the name and persona and used it for twenty two years and thousands of bouts, until his death in 1993.

Jackie Pallo

Jackies Pallo's hair was an amazing confection, defying both gravity and male pattern baldness, but not always standing up to the rigours of the ring. He wrote a controversial autobiography entitled 'You Grunt, I'll Groan'.

Holiday reading

Just a quick note from my deckchair to say that if, in our absence, you tire of occasionally updated pictures of tough looking men in trunks, why not check out the tremendously hauntological Found Objects, a constantly updated catalogue of fascinating things from a parade of notable contributors, and us. Right, now where's that Factor 40?

Unmann, Wittering Tour 2

Unmann (far right) and Wittering (second left) will be on holiday for the whole month of August.

We have no concrete plans other than to get away for a bit, see some castles and recharge our Ever Readies in preparation for the rest of the blogging year.

In the meantime, we have set this weblog to automatic pilot, and it will apparently be generating pictures of seventies wrestlers while we're away.

See you in September, baby.

Ray & Dick.
